The Lakes Area Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Reserve Police Officer. This is a volunteer, non-sworn, uniformed position. The Lakes Area Police Department is located in Lindstrom, MN in Chisago County and includes the cities of Lindstrom and Chisago City within its jurisdiction. Applicants must successfully complete and pass a comprehensive background investigation and physical fitness examination. Requirements

- Age: Must be at least 18 years old by date of hire

- Education: Must have a high school diploma or GED.

- Licenses: Must have a valid driver's license.

- Background Check: Must have no criminal convictions. A thorough background investigation will be conducted. Applicants must meet standards regarding acceptable employment history, honesty, driving and conviction records.

- Medical Examinations: Must pass a medical examination. This will include a drug screen.

- Physical Fitness Standards: Must pass a physical fitness exam.

Job Description

- Write reports related to enforcement activities

- Provides court testimony

- Assists patrol officers in non-enforcement activities

- Responds to citizen requests for service

- Completes reports and required paperwork

- Maintains police vehicles and equipment as assigned

- Assists with Animal Control functions

- Picks up and delivers correspondence for the department and community organizations

- Identifies and reports criminal activities

- Assists citizens in identifying crime prevention techniques

- Recovers abandoned property

- Assists in traffic control of special events, major fires, parades and accidents

- Assists department officers or other agencies in providing transportation as requested

- Must pass periodic performance evaluations
